Feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD) is a catch-all term for a range of conditions affecting a cat’s urethra or bladder. While the diagnosis and treatment of FLUTD remains the domain of veterinarians, Royal Canin has got your cat’s nutritional needs covered with its specially formulated Feline Urinary S/O. (S/O stands for struvite/oxalate – two types of stones that can form in the urinary tract.)
This formula helps to dissolve urinary tract stones (called uroliths) and prevent their occurrence or recurrence. It features low magnesium – a primary component of some types of uroliths – as well as specific agents that assist with dissolving struvite stones and diluting urine to prevent crystals from forming. It also helps lower the concentration of ions that lead to the formation of crystals.
Please consult with your veterinarian before using this product, and note that it is not recommended for cats with chronic renal failure, metabolic acidosis, heart failure, hypertension, cats under treatment with urine acidifying medication, or pregnancy/lactation/growth.
