The S/O at the end of this product name refers to struvite and calcium oxalate crystals – both of which spell bad news for our dogs’ urinary health. These crystals can form in the kidney and if left untreated, can have serious and sometimes fatal consequences.
Royal Canin Urinary S/O helps to reduce the risk of crystal formation in a number of ways. It helps to dissolve struvite stones, and its low levels of magnesium (a component of struvite crystals) help to prevent new struvites from forming. The formula also increases the volume of urine, which means less chance of urinary crystals.
In other words, Royal Canin has created a food that makes it very tough for urinary crystals to form and grow. So if your dog suffers from urinary stones, or has a tendency towards them, make a beeline for Urinary S/O.
